The Amazing Mysteries of the Holy Rosary

The mysteries of the Rosary bring you closer to Jesus our Lord.  If you think of the mysteries (without even knowing what they are yet) as a mental focus of the timeline of Jesus, Mary, and the Church, you will have a good starting place.

The 5 Joyful Mysteries are:

1. The Annunciation of the birth of Jesus to Mary, by the Angel Gabriel
2. The Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth
3. The Birth of Jesus
4. The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple as a baby
5. The Finding of Jesus in the Temple as a boy

The 5 Luminous Mysteries are:

1. The Baptism of Jesus
2. The Wedding at Cana
3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God
4. The Transfiguration
5. The Institution of the Eucharist

The 5 Sorrowful Mysteries are:

1. The Agony in the Garden
2. The Scourging at the Pillar
3. The Crowning with Thorns
4. The Carrying of the Cross
5. The Crucifixion

The 5 Glorious Mysteries are:

1. The Resurrection of Jesus from the dead
2. The Ascension of Jesus to the right hand of God the Father
3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit
4. The Assumption of Mary to Heaven
5. The Coronation of Mary in Heaven

Despite the recommended schedule for which Mystery you pray during the Rosary, reflect for a moment on the ordering of these mysteries above. The Rosary focuses on the really important aspects of the life of Jesus and Mary! Imagine the fruits you would get from praying the Rosary everyday, reflecting on these mysteries.  There is a lifetime of reflection in these mysteries...
